Born from a Happy Accident in Soho

Mignonne Gavigan launched in 2014. It was a bit spontaneous. Mignonne, "Maggie", was experimenting with a beaded couture vintage gown and an embellished piece of fabric fell to the floor. She picked it up and fastened it around her neck because she thought it was a cool scarf vibe. On her walk home through Soho a handful of compliments and questions on where she had gotten her necklace came about and the first Mignonne Gavigan design idea was born. She always knew she wanted to create a brand, a community and a workplace that were all built on kindness and happiness.

Maggie launched Mignonne Gavigan jewelry in hopes that each piece would bring joy and happiness to the wearer. Ultimately what she has discovered is that women develop a significant amount of confidence when wearing an MG piece. That is so important to the MG team, that they are building a community of confident and joy-filled women.

Maggie's Design Ethos

Our philosophy is that sophistication and playfulness can coexist. We aim to thoughtfully design one-of-a-kind pieces that tell a story of handmade craftsmanship and faraway travels. Our approach stems from Maggie's love of art, nature, architecture and textiles, bringing all together in jewelry. We believe what you wear should bring you joy, maybe even encourage you to take a few risks.

With partners in India and Asia, we create modern designs informed by 100-year-old heritage techniques. Signature styles include the scarf necklace, decadent statement earrings, dreamy intricately detailed brooches, and bracelets.

Travel has always been a big part of the inspiration for me. I love being outside and experiencing nature, which I weave into each collection. Ultimately, we base each collection around a place and the feelings you may experience when being there, and our community of women. We hope to continue to add surprise and delight with each collection.

The Process: From Sketch to Stitch

Every Mignonne Gavigan piece starts with an idea. A color Maggie saw while traveling. Vintage jewelry. Fabric textures. Architecture. A sketch scribbled down before it disappears. From there, the designs start taking shape by hand. Sketches turn into sculpted forms, prototypes, and samples until every detail feels right. A lot gets edited out along the way. Only the pieces that truly feel special make the final collection.

Once a design is approved, every piece passes through many hands before it reaches yours. Hand embroidery, beading, stitching, stone setting, and finishing. Some pieces take hours to complete because the details matter that much. The slight variations, texture, and dimensionality are what make the pieces feel alive and not factory-made. This is the part of the process that is never rushed.
