The Trupo Twins
Trupo Treats is run by Brian and Charlie, twin brothers known to their customers as the Trupo Twins. The idea for the company started with a simple frustration: Brian walked into Whole Foods looking for a tasty, creamy chocolate bar that was actually vegan and could not find one worth buying. So the twins got to work and started a vegan chocolate company dedicated to making ethical, delicious milk chocolate, while giving back to the causes they believe in along the way.
From Veggie Brothers to Trupo Treats
Charlie went vegan in 2013 after learning more about the realities of the dairy and egg industry, and Brian followed his lead four years later. In 2018 the twins launched an Instagram page called Veggie Brothers, which became the first step toward building Trupo Treats. In 2020, Trupo Treats officially launched with its first product, the Vegan Rice Crunch Bar, funded through a Kickstarter campaign. By 2022, Trupo had released the first vegan and gluten-free wafer bar in North America, which quickly became a customer favorite.
Kind to People, the Planet, and Animals
The Trupo Twins built their company around a simple motto: be kind to the people, planet, and animals. Since going vegan, both brothers have stayed active in the vegan community and have volunteered at animal sanctuaries across the United States. One of the company's core missions is to support those same sanctuaries by donating a portion of profits on a regular basis. To date, Trupo has partnered with more than 100 animal sanctuaries and donated over $11,000 in proceeds, with a pledge to give more than 10 percent of net profits to animal sanctuaries and humanitarian causes, working toward a goal of donating over $1 million a year by 2030.
Sourced With Care
Trupo's Vegan Wafer Bars are made with Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa, sourced from farms that meet the standards of the Sustainable Agriculture Network, which works to protect farmers, forests, wildlife, and local communities. The wafer bars are also wrapped in recyclable packaging to help cut down on single-use plastic waste, with the twins actively working toward a fully compostable wrapper in the future.
